Go, Johnny, Go! Go! Johnny B. Goode
He could play the piano just like he was a-ringin' a bell.

I am remiss for not having posted anything yet on the death of pianist Johnnie Johnson, so I will try to make up for that now. This evening, I will be heading to Blueberry Hill with my girlfriend and father to see Chuck Berry play. However, I can only think now that it is a real shame that I'll never have the chance to witness one of Johnnie Johnson's own performances, as he was a priniciple driving force behind Chuck Berry's own success as a musician; regardless of who you believe in regards to the bitter custody battle over the authorship of several founding songs of rock and roll, you would find it difficult to argue that Johnnie Johnson did not influence Chuck Berry's art (and vice versa) in a way that might be best compared to the Lennon-McCartney writing partnership. Rest in peace, Johnnie! (Visit Johnnie Johnson's online store.)
